Whoops! This blog has been a little neglected lately. Let's add to it a bit before I leave! This year, 6th-8th graders have been talking about being responsible online and being good digital citizens. Answer this question in the comments section:
Do you think the school should have the right to punish kids who cyberbully, even if the bullying is taking place after school hours? Why or why not?
If yes, what should the punishment be?

New Tech Units!
In the next few months, we're going to be focusing on getting everyone online, and doing it safely. We'll be tweeting on Twitter, blogging on Blogger, making movies on Xtranormal, and more! The internet is an amazing and informative tool, but there are some traps we have to avoid falling into.
In the comment box, answer this question: What are some risks associated with using the internet?

Welcome Back!
Another year has begun, and the library is getting ready to order a LOT of new books! When you visit, don't forget to tell me about any new titles you'd like to see in the library this year. I am taking every suggestion very seriously - I want you guys reading, and I want you to love what you read!
This year in the library, we will be hosting the Debate Team meets, Poetry Slam, Library Lunches and Puppet-Making workshops as always. Hopefully we'll be adding some new activities as well. If enough of you are interested, we'll have a weekly book club and a Reading Buddies program for 7th and 8th graders interested in working with our younger kids in classes V10 - V14.
Library Squad applications will be available soon, but the squad will be very small this year. Library Lunch will start within the next few weeks.
Get ready to have a great year!

Slam! Part 2...
P9 L!brary's 2nd annual Poetry Slam is this Friday, May 7th!
We want EVERYONE to participate this year! Bring a poem YOU have written, and read it out loud, with feeling. Poets will be judged on the quality of their writing and on their performance.
Last year's slam was a ton of fun and showcased some amazing writing. Some poets were confident; some were so scared they were shaking, but got up the courage to share their work. So even if you're nervous about your poem, even if you don't like performing - sign up anyway! You'll be glad you did.
Winners will recieve gift cards. All poets will get a small participation gift.
